New Delhi. West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer was chosen Player of the Match in the Super-8 match of the T20 World Cup against Zimbabwe for his explosive batting. Hetmyer scored 85 runs in 34 balls with 7 fours and as many sixes. With this brilliant innings, he played an important role in helping West Indies win by 107 runs. After the match, Hetmyer said that he no longer thinks much about his batting. In the match played at Wankhede Stadium, West Indies, batting first, scored 254 runs losing 6 wickets. In response, Zimbabwe’s team was reduced to 147 runs in 17.4 overs. With this, West Indies registered its second biggest win by margin of runs (107 runs) in the T20 World Cup. Hetmyer has warned Team India with his explosive batting that he will intend to play against them in the same manner.

Hetmyer says that he does not think much about his batting. He said, ‘I don’t have to think too much about my batting. Earlier I used to think too much. Now I am trying to think less. My bat will talk and I will react to the ball that comes in front of me.

After winning the match, Hetmyer said about his innings, ‘This innings means a lot to me, especially because I did not get many chances in the last match. I just want to repeat the same things that I have been doing for the last two months. Hetmyer came to bat at number-3 in this match. He said, ‘I am feeling good. Now it seems quite easy because I have been playing in the same order continuously. Getting everyone’s support makes me more comfortable mentally.

Hetmyer has hit 17 sixes in the T20 World Cup. On becoming the leading six-hitter, Hetmyer said, ‘I am not thinking much about it. It feels good to achieve something like this, but as a team we haven’t achieved anything yet. It’s just a match. My family is constantly supporting me and that is what helps me to do better.
