
What happened on Saturday in the Directorate of Elementary Education, Noorkheda, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, has shaken the entire education department. Supporters of MLA Umesh Sharma Kau had fiercely assaulted Education Director Ajay Kumar Naudiyal. Now the fire of this incident is slowly spreading to the teachers and employees of the entire state.
After a five-hour long meeting of employee and officer organizations of all 56 departments in the Directorate of Education, it was decided that there would be a two-day work boycott from today. It was also warned that if the accused are not arrested within this period, other departmental employees will also stop work from February 25.
Teacher organizations strongly condemned
Uttaranchal State Primary Teachers Association held a separate meeting at Shikshak Bhawan Race Course and strongly condemned the incident. Teachers who reached Dehradun from different districts of the state said that when the Education Director of the state is not safe in the office, then it is not difficult to imagine the condition of common teachers and employees. Provincial ad-hoc committee members of the organization Govind Bora and Digambar Singh Negi clearly said that if action is not taken soon, the movement will intensify further. From today onwards all teachers will register their protest by wearing black bands.
What was the whole matter?
On Saturday, MLA Umesh Sharma Kau along with some of his supporters reached the Directorate to meet the Director of Education regarding the matter of changing the name of a school. The matter escalated and within no time the dispute turned into a fight. Some people scuffled with Naudiyal in the presence of the MLA. A video of the incident quickly went viral in which the MLA is seen sitting on a chair and people behind him are throwing chairs and things. A person seen in the video is being described as history-sheeter Kalli.
After the incident, there was a strong demonstration at the Directorate premises and then at the Raipur police station. A case was registered against the MLA and his supporters in Raipur police station. A separate FIR has also been registered on the complaint of the MLA.
four in custody, Screws on the bud too
SSP Pramendra Singh Dobal said that four accused have been identified and detained on the basis of the viral video. A separate investigation is going on into what role history-sheeter Kalli played in the incident. The investigation of the case is going on based on the complaints from both the parties.
Teachers organizations have demanded from the government that strict action should be taken in this matter and SOP should be issued for the safety of employees and officers, so that such incidents do not happen to anyone in future.
