In a joint and bold action, Parasrampur Police and SOG of Basti district of Uttar Pradesh have exposed an inter-district gang making fake government documents. This big success achieved under the special campaign being run on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Dr. Yashveer Singh has not only broken the back of the fraudsters of the district, but has also exposed the big game of fraud going on in the name of government departments.
When a joint team of police and SOG raided a Sahaj Jan Seva Kendra located at Parasrampur market on the information of an informer, even the officers were stunned to see the scene there. Under the guise of the Centre, fake seals of officers and forged documents were being prepared indiscriminately. The network of this gang extended not only to Basti but also to the neighboring district Gonda.
Police had received secret information
For some time, the police was receiving information that government schemes were being misused in the area through fake disability certificates and forged government documents. The team formed under the leadership of Police Station Head Vishwamohan Rai, in which SOG and Surveillance Cell played an important role, laid the trap. As soon as the team raided the public service center of Parasrampur market on the confirmed information of the informer, the people present there started trying to escape, but they were caught after laying siege.
Large quantity of fake stamps and other items recovered
The material recovered from the spot during the search points towards a bigger conspiracy. The police found identical fake stamps of the names of the Sub-District Magistrate, Tehsildar and police officers from the spot. State-of-the-art laptop, two high-end printers, lamination machine and huge quantity of blank and filled fake forms have also been recovered. Police have seized dozens of fake disability certificates, Aadhar cards, income-caste certificates and ink pads.
Used to target illiterate people
A shocking revelation has come to light during the interrogation. This gang used to target poor and illiterate people. They were lured with government pension and facilities and given fake disability certificates. In return, the accused used to collect Rs 5 to 10 thousand per person. These fake documents were being used not only for pension but also for concessional travel in trains and for activities like begging.
Of the four arrested accused, three are residents of neighboring district Gonda, while one is a local resident. A minor was also included in this so that the police would not get suspicious. The police is now investigating whether this gang is connected to any government department employee.
Action will also be taken against fake beneficiaries
Superintendent of Police Dr. Yashveer Singh, while praising the team for this success, has made it clear that the investigation will not stop here. We are preparing a list of all those beneficiaries who have got the certificates made from this centre. Those who use fake documents are as guilty as those who make them. More arrests are possible in the coming days.
