In this match, he was given a chance in place of Akshar Patel but he could neither take a wicket nor score runs. The defending champion has faced a big defeat against South Africa. During the match, Sundar got into a scuffle with the opposing team’s batsman David Miller. Seeing the matter worsening, the umpire intervened but even after this both were seen arguing.
Washington Sundar gave 17 runs in his two overs against South Africa and could not take a single wicket. Even in batting, he could not do anything special and was out after scoring 11 runs in 11 balls. In reply to 187 runs, India was all out for 111 runs and lost the match by 76 runs. This shameful defeat has dealt a blow to the hopes of reaching the semi-finals.
