South Africa defeated India by 76 runs in the Super-8 match. After the match, captain Suryakumar Yadav admitted that despite good bowling, the team lost control of the match by continuously losing wickets in the powerplay. He said that while chasing the target of 180-185 runs, strong starts and small partnerships were necessary, which India could not create.

After the defeat against South Africa in the Super-8 match of T20 World Cup 2026, captain Suryakumar Yadav clearly said that the team lost the match in the powerplay itself. South Africa defeated India by 76 runs on the basis of deadly bowling by Marco Janssen and Keshav Maharaj. In the match played on Sunday, South Africa, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, scored 187 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the Indian team could score only 111 runs in 18.5 overs. For them, only Shivam Dubey played the highest innings of 42 runs.
