An example of how Jal Jeevan Mission is being made a mockery of in Uttar Pradesh has been seen in Bahraich, UP. The water tanks built under Jal Jeevan Mission in Bahraich have become mere showpieces. Along with this, people’s dream of clean and clear water also seems to be breaking.
Actually, a total of 761 water tanks were proposed to be constructed under Jal Jeevan Mission in Bahraich. Of these, 599 water tanks were to be built by PNC Group, while 162 water tanks were to be built by VPL Company. But the surprising thing is that even after 6 years, work is still incomplete at most of the 761 tanks.
Executive Engineer’s claim – Supply is being done from 36 tanks.
Whereas the Executive Engineer of Jal Jeevan Mission says that supply is being given to the villagers from 36 tanks. However, the pictures that have surfaced are showing a mirror to the claim of the Executive Engineer. The reality is that where tanks have been built, people are not getting water.
The project was started in 2019
Let us tell you that this project was started in the year 2019. Under this, tanks were to be constructed to provide clean water to the people in the entire villages of Uttar Pradesh. Besides, taps were to be installed in every house. After seeing this project, people felt that now everyone will get clean and safe water to drink. But the situation was such that even after 6 years, 100 percent construction of the tanks could not be completed. Where tanks were built, corruption became so prevalent that water could not reach the villages. At many places, cracks appeared in the tanks as soon as they were filled with water.
