Elections are to be held on five Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar next month (March). It is certain that two seats are in the hands of JDU and two in the hands of BJP, but there is a stir in the political corridors as to who will be given a chance this time? On the other hand, the biggest question is whether any of the existing members on these seats will be repeated? Everyone’s eyes are also on Upendra Kushwaha who is included in NDA.
There is constant suspense whether BJP will again send Upendra Kushwaha to Rajya Sabha? Upendra Kushwaha gave his first reaction on this in a press conference on Saturday (February 21, 2026). Upendra Kushwaha said that NDA leaders will decide this.
‘As of today, this is an internal matter of NDA’
He said, “The reasons for which Upendra Kushwaha was given Rajya Sabha membership at that time (last time), were considered by the NDA. All of us had considered… So as of today, this issue is an internal matter of the NDA.” Linking it to the Bihar Assembly elections, Kushwaha was asked whether it is not the case that the work is over… On hearing this, Upendra Kushwaha said, “Which work is over?”
Upendra Kushwaha has gone to Rajya Sabha from BJP quota.
Although Upendra Kushwaha did not say anything openly calling it an internal matter of NDA, but in a conversation with ABP News, the party spokesperson has clearly said that Upendra Kushwaha should be sent to Rajya Sabha again because there were talks with BJP regarding this before the assembly elections. In such a situation, it remains to be seen what happens next. Let us tell you that out of the five seats which are becoming vacant in Bihar, one is of Upendra Kushwaha. BJP had sent him to Rajya Sabha from its quota.
Apart from Kushwaha, there was also discussion about Chirag Paswan’s mother Reena Paswan that she will go to Rajya Sabha. However, last Friday Chirag Paswan made it clear that his mother wants to stay away from politics. He should not enter politics.
