US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit India soon. We are taking India-US relations to the next level. India-US trade agreement is also likely to be signed soon.
Meanwhile, Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that the proposed interim trade agreement between India and America is likely to be implemented by April. He also said that the free trade agreements of UK and Oman with India are likely to be implemented by April, while the FTA with New Zealand is targeted to be operationalized by September.
Indications of possible meeting between PM Modi and Trump
He indicated that the possible meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump would take place at the appropriate time. On the occasion of India AI Impact Summit, Gore said that wait, I am sure it will happen at the right time.
The two leaders last met in Washington DC on February 13, 2025, when President Trump hosted Prime Minister Modi on an official working visit. There was regular communication between the two leaders during the year 2025, especially on trade negotiations.
India formally announced to join Pax Silica
Gore was present at the India AI Impact Summit when India formally announced its joining of ‘Pax Silica’. This is considered a major initiative related to artificial intelligence and supply chain security under the leadership of America. On this occasion, America’s Under Secretary of Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg, Electronics and Information Technology Secretary S. Many senior officials including Krishnan were present and the Pax Silica Declaration was signed and exchanged. Gore said Pax Silica is an alliance of capabilities.
There are vast opportunities for cooperation between the two countries
Regarding the summit, Gore described it as very impressive and said that there are vast opportunities for cooperation between India and America and both the countries want to actively move forward on these opportunities. Earlier this month, he had described India-US relations as having immense potential and mentioned the new bilateral trade agreement, which has shown signs of reducing US tariffs and giving a new direction to energy and technology cooperation.
