A total of five people from different villages died after returning from a Tilak ceremony held on the night of 14 February in Mathia village under Bikramganj block of Rohtas district. This has spread sensation in the entire area. After the incident, various types of discussions are going on among the villagers. The deceased include Lallu Singh, resident of Mathia village, Abhijeet Singh, 32-year-old son of Vishwanath Singh, resident of Badki Sabdala village of Nasriganj police station area, Rahul Kumar, 34-year-old son of late Lalbihari Singh, resident of Garhatha village under Hasan Bazar police station area of ​​Bhojpur district and two cooks of Akodhigola police station area. According to the information received, the tilak ceremony of Poojan Singh’s son was organized in Mathia village of Bikramganj block on the night of 14 February. Relatives and acquaintances from many nearby villages participated in the function. After the program was completed peacefully, everyone returned to their homes.

Lallu Singh’s health deteriorated on 16 February

It is said that on February 16, the health of Lallu Singh, resident of Mathia village, suddenly deteriorated. He was taken for treatment by his family members, but he died during treatment. Meanwhile, news came that Lallu Singh’s relative Abhijeet Singh, Garatha resident Rahul Kumar and two cooks who prepared food at the Tilak ceremony also died after their health deteriorated. There was an atmosphere of chaos in the village due to the news of death of five people one after the other.

There is a discussion among the villagers that during the Tilak ceremony, some people had allegedly consumed poisonous beverages, due to which their health deteriorated and later they died. The relatives of the deceased have clearly denied the consumption of poisonous substances. Some family members say that the cause of death was kidney failure, while Lallu Singh’s family members say that it was dog bite. The matter has become more complicated due to various reasons emerging.

As soon as the news of suspicious death of five people spread, the district administration and police department became active. A team under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Excise Department, Tariq Mehmood, reached the respective villages and interrogated the family members one by one. The team has started investigation keeping in mind the possibility of possible poisonous substance or illicit liquor.

The product department team also investigated the incident site and surrounding areas. However, no concrete facts have emerged in the preliminary investigation. Officials say that the situation will become clear only after the post mortem report and other investigation reports come.

Regarding this matter, Rohtas Superintendent of Police Roshan Kumar said that the police is investigating the entire matter seriously. He told that the reason behind these deaths in different villages will become clear only after the detailed report of the investigation team. At present, an appeal has been made not to pay attention to any kind of rumour.

After the incident, there is an atmosphere of panic in the surrounding areas including Mathiya village. People are worried about how five people died within a few days.
