Before the riots in the political arena of Assam, there is a fierce war of words between the ruling party – BJP and the opposition party – Congress. Congress is attacking Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Gaurav Gogoi, elected Lok Sabha MP from the state, has described the CM as Jinnah of Assam. He has also commented on the resignation of former Assam Pradesh Congress chief Bhupen Bora. Gogoi said that people joining BJP have no importance for Congress.
