Government’s preparation to increase the budget to Rs 1.20 lakh crore

Last year the budget size was Rs 1.01 lakh crore. This time the government is preparing to increase it to Rs 1.15 to 1.20 lakh crore. In which special attention is expected to be given to youth, women, tourism and infrastructure.

This time the government has slightly changed the way of making the budget. Chief Minister Dhami held ‘Budget Dialogue’ on February 7 in Banbasa, Champawat, in which farmers, industrialists, women self-help groups and experts came together on one platform. The purpose of this dialogue was that the budget should not only be made in the files, but the needs of the land should also be visible in it.

Old schemes will be examined under ‘Zero Based Budgeting’

The government has made it clear that under ‘Zero Based Budgeting’ no scheme will be included in the budget just because it is already running. Now the usefulness of every scheme will be checked. Accounts of past expenditure have been sought from the departments and third party audit is also being conducted. This year, for the first time, separate gender budget data will be prepared for women. Apart from this, separate details of expenditure on research and development have also been sought, this initiative is new in itself.

Increasing the size of the budget is actually not as easy as it seems.
