
Maharashtra government has canceled the old decision related to 5 percent reservation given to socially and educationally backward Muslim class. In the year 2014, through an ordinance, Muslim community was given 5 percent reservation in government jobs and educational institutions under Special Backward Category-A (SBC-A). On the basis of this, caste certificate and caste validity certificate were also being issued.
The High Court had imposed a ban in November 2014
But this ordinance was challenged in the Mumbai High Court. On 14 November 2014, the High Court put a stay on it. Later, this ordinance was not converted into law till 23 December 2014, due to which it automatically lapsed. Now the government has made it clear that all government decisions and circulars issued on the basis of that ordinance will also be considered cancelled.
Order to ban the status of minority educational institution
On Monday (February 16), Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has ordered to stop the status of minority educational institution given to 75 schools, about which there were reports that these schools were approved soon after the death of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Apart from this, Deputy Chief Minister and Minority Development Minister Sunetra Pawar directed the officials to conduct a detailed investigation into the alleged irregularities in issuing minority certificates and initiate strict action if any irregularities are found.

According to officials, between January 28 and February 2, 75 institutions were given minority status. It is said that the first certificate was issued at 3:09 pm on January 28, the same day Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash. Seven institutions got approval that day and in the next three days this number increased to 75. That time Ajit Pawar Was handling the charge of Minority Development Department. This department is now under Sunetra Pawar, who was recently sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister.
