Surya Grahan 2026 Katha: Mythological story of solar eclipse
To handle the situation Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini. In the form of Mohini, she cleverly started distributing the nectar and started making the nectar drink only to the gods. The demons did not realize that they were being tricked.
Meanwhile, a demon named Rahu disguised himself as a god and secretly sat in the row of gods. He also took a few drops of nectar. Then Sun God and Moon God recognized Rahu and gave this information to Lord Vishnu.
Lord Vishnu immediately separated Rahu’s head from his torso with Sudarshan Chakra. However, due to the touch of nectar his head had become immortal. It is said that the severed head of Rahu became established in the sky, while the torso became known as Ketu.
There is a mythological belief that Rahu remains angry with the Sun and the Moon, because because of them his secret was revealed. This is why he tries to swallow the Sun and the Moon from time to time. When it engulfs the Sun, a solar eclipse occurs and when it engulfs the Moon, a lunar eclipse occurs.
Thus, this story of solar eclipse has special importance from religious and astrological point of view.
