
New Delhi. The names of 5 out of 8 teams playing in the Super 8 of ICC T20 World Cup 2026 have been finalized. India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies and England made it to the next round. At present only 3 teams can go ahead and everyone is trying to make it to the last 8 by improving in their respective groups. The next matches of America, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Zimbabwe will decide whether they will go to Super 8 or the journey will end.
India: 6 points in Group A, +3.050 NRR
India secured a place in the Super Eight by defeating Pakistan by 61 runs in Colombo on Sunday. India has been unbeaten in the tournament so far and has won three out of three matches. In search of the third T20 World Cup trophy, India started 2026 against America. Captain Suryakumar Yadav played an important role in the team’s 29-run victory by scoring unbeaten 84 runs. Hardik Pandya’s all-round performance led to a 93-run win against Namibia, while Ishan Kishan’s explosive inning of 77 runs helped India win the match against Pakistan.
Sri Lanka: 6 points in Group B, +2.462 NRR
The tournament has been fantastic so far for co-host Sri Lanka. Started the campaign with a 20-run win against Ireland and continued to perform strongly thereafter. Defeated Oman by 105 runs in Kandi. Showed dominance against a strong team like Australia. Opener Pathum Nissanka scored an unbeaten 100 runs in 52 balls and helped the team win by eight wickets with two overs remaining in the target of 182 runs and secured a place in the Super Eight.
West Indies: 6 points in Group C, +1.820 NRR
West Indies’ strong batting line-up was in the news even before the start of the tournament and till now the batsmen have lived up to the expectations and led them to three consecutive wins. Started with a 35-run win against Scotland and qualified with a nine-wicket win against Nepal. The most special performance was against England, where the team led by Sherfane Rutherford scored 196/6 and bowled out England for 166 runs.
South Africa: 6 points in Group D, +1.477 NRR
On Saturday, South Africa maintained its winning streak by defeating New Zealand by seven wickets. Captain Aiden Markram played a brilliant inning of 86 runs in just 44 balls. The campaign started against Canada, where the batsmen together scored 213 runs. Captain Markram scored a half-century, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs added fast runs. Lungi Ngidi took four wickets and won by 57 runs. Recorded a thrilling win by four runs in the double super over against Afghanistan.
England: 6 points in Group C, +0.201 NRR
England finished the group stage with a high-scoring match against Italy after a close win against Nepal. So far, the best win in four matches was against Scotland by five wickets. England had to face defeat in the match against West Indies. Made a score of 202/7 against Italy and lost to Italy by 24 runs.
Which teams are in the race for Super 8?
Teams from America, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Zimbabwe are still in the race. Apart from winning their matches, they will have to depend on the results of other teams.

The teams of Scotland, Nepal, Oman, Namibia, Italy, Canada are completely out while Afghanistan, Netherlands, Ireland, UAE have won one match each and they are still hoping for a miracle.
