Punjab government took out anti-drug rally in Moga, SAD made allegations on the speech of DGP and Chief Secretary

Punjab government organized an anti-drug rally on Monday (16 February) in Killi Chahlan, Moga. Volunteers from the Village Defense Committees formed against drug addiction took part in it. Opposition parties have alleged that if the Moga rally was a government program then how was it presided over by Aam Aadmi Party national president Arvind Kejriwal. Opposition parties have asked that if this was a rally of Aam Aadmi Party then how did the Chief Secretary and DGP give speeches in it. A ruckus has arisen over the speeches of Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha and DGP Gaurav Yadav in this rally.

Officials addressed the leaders during the rally

Both the officers addressed the Chief Minister at the beginning of their speech. Bhagwant Maan Along with this, he also addressed former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Opposition parties have raised questions on the speeches given by both the officers in this rally and said that this is politicization of bureaucracy.

What did the DGP say in his speech?

In his speech, DGP Gaurav Yadav told about the work being done by the police in the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign. He said that the volunteers of Village Defense Committee are proving to be the eyes and ears of Punjab Police in the fight against drugs. He said that about 1.5 lakh Village Defense Committee volunteers have been deployed so far in Punjab and about 15 thousand meetings have been held with the Punjab Police.

He said that till now the Village Defense Committees have given about 1200 information to the police regarding drug smugglers and taking action on them, about 200 cases have been registered and 300 drug smugglers have been arrested.

What did the Chief Secretary say during the speech?

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary KAP Sinha said in his speech that the government and police alone cannot win this war against drugs and for this public cooperation is necessary. He said that this campaign against drugs is being run in a very planned manner in Punjab.

Shiromani Akali Dal surrounded the government

Shiromani Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema has cornered the state government over the speeches given by both the officers in the rally. He said both. Officials giving speeches at the Aam Aadmi Party rally is politicization of bureaucracy. He raised the question that when the entire expense of this rally was borne by the Punjab government, then how did former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal preside over it.
