The festival of Mahashivratri is being celebrated with deep devotion and spiritual energy across the country. Even in the capital Delhi, long queues of devotees were seen outside the Shiva temples with the first light of the morning. On the occasion of Mahashivratri on 15th February, devotees gathered early in the morning in the ancient Shiva temple located at Connaught Place and the entire atmosphere became Shiva-like.
People gathered for Jalabhishek, chants of Har Har Mahadev echoed.
On the occasion of Mahashivratri, devotees were seen offering water, milk and Belpatra in the temple premises. During the Abhishekam on Shivalinga, the faith of the devotees was visible. With the chants of Har-Har Mahadev and Bam-Bam Bhole, the entire area was immersed in devotion.
Organized event amid grand decorations and tight security
The temple administration made extensive preparations for this special festival. Baba Bholenath’s court was decorated with colorful flowers and attractive decorations. In view of the huge crowd, deployment of Delhi Police was also ensured so that the devotees do not face any inconvenience. Special arrangements were made so that the devotees could have darshan peacefully amidst security and order.
Enthusiasm at every age, confidence shown from children to elders
The enthusiasm of Mahashivratri was not limited only to the elderly. Youth, women and children also reached the temple in large numbers. Many devotees said that seeing and worshiping Lord Shiva on this day brings happiness, peace and positive energy in life.
Early in the morning, a large number of young devotees were seen reaching the temple and performing Jalabhishek. Women also performed puja with full rituals and prayed for the prosperity of the family and society. Many people wished for peace and prosperity in the country and the world.
The procession of devotees will continue till late evening
