Serious questions have been raised on the working style of the police regarding the case of a missing girl in Bihar. After this issue came to light, State Director General of Police Vinay Kumar has clearly said that if any police officer is found guilty, strict action will be taken against him. He assured that the matter is being investigated impartially and no one will be spared.
The matter came to light when Rashtriya Janata Dal MLC Sunil Kumar Singh raised the issue of a missing girl in the Bihar Legislative Council. He alleged that the police filed an FIR very late in the case of a girl who went missing from Ramakrishna Nagar area of Patna district and treated the victim’s family insensitively.

Sunil Kumar Singh alleges that the policemen spoke to the family in very objectionable language and said that the girl would return after having fun for a month or two. After this statement, there was huge anger in the House and a heated debate started on the functioning of the police. Responding to this entire controversy, DGP Vinay Kumar said that the matter is said to be related to land dispute and its investigation is going on. He also made it clear that if any officer has behaved inappropriately or insensitively with the victim’s family, then strict action is to be taken against him.

After this incident the political atmosphere has also become heated. Purnia MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav criticized the attitude of the police and said that such comments regarding missing girls cannot be accepted under any circumstances. In recent times, due to increasing incidents of crimes related to women and girls in Bihar, questions on the police have become more intense. In such a situation, this matter is not just an incident, but has emerged as a big question on the sensitivity and responsibility of the entire system.
