
The political atmosphere heated up in Dehradun on Saturday when Ambedkar Mahamanch workers surrounded the Congress state office and staged a strong demonstration. A large number of people from Dalit community joined the protest and registered their protest by raising slogans against Congress. The entire demonstration remained peaceful in the presence of police force, although the attitude of the workers appeared quite sharp.
Ambedkar Mahamanch President Vinod Kumar, who was leading the protest, made serious allegations against the Congress. He said that the party calls itself “Dalit friendly” only for political gains, while the interests of Dalits and backward classes are being ignored at the grassroots level. Vinod Kumar alleged that Congress is affecting social harmony and peaceful environment by playing politics of so-called Muslim appeasement in the state.
In the first point of the agenda, protest has been registered against the alleged Muslim appeasement politics in the state. Organizers say that such politics affects social balance and creates a situation of division in the society. In the second point, a demand has been made to maintain the peaceful environment and social harmony of the state.
Answer sought from Congress Party
In the third point, a clear answer has been sought from the Congress Party, accusing it of ignoring the interests of the backward and Dalit classes. In the fourth point, it has been said about the protection of the principles and ideas of the creator of the Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. It has also been said that the attacks being made by Congress on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who strongly established Ambedkar’s ideas in the state, are not acceptable.
In the fifth point, the policies and decisions implemented by the Chief Minister have been supported, describing them as important towards strengthening social justice. In the sixth point, it has been announced to counter the Congress’s anti-Chief Minister yatra by calling it a symbol of anti-Dalit and backward class mentality.
In the seventh point, it has been talked about registering protest in a democratic manner through the unity of social organizations. In the eighth point, it has been clarified that the siege of the state office will be done in a peaceful, disciplined and lawful manner.
In the ninth and final point, the resolve to oppose any political activity against Dalits and backward classes in an organized and democratic manner in future has been reiterated. The organizers said that their aim is not to create any kind of conflict but to raise their issues in a democratic manner.
The organization supported the policies of CM Dhami
Vinod Kumar said that his organization supports the policies implemented by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to strengthen social justice. He alleged that the anti-Chief Minister march taken out by Congress reflects anti-Dalit and backward mentality, which will be countered democratically.
‘The protest is peaceful, disciplined and lawful’
Mahamanch clarified that their protest is completely peaceful, disciplined and legal. It was also said that in future, if any political activity takes place against the interests of Dalits and backward classes, it will be opposed in an organized and democratic manner.
