Last week, the noise of Babri was heard from Bengal to Uttar Pradesh. On one hand, MLA Humayun Kabir in Murshidabad, West Bengal started the construction of a new mosque on the lines of Babri Masjid of Ayodhya. On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that those who are dreaming of doomsday, that day is not going to come. Babri Masjid is never going to be built now. This politics going on on Babri was discussed in Khabaron Ke Khiladi this week. Senior journalists Ramkripal Singh, Piyush Pant, Rakesh Shukla, Ajay Setia and Anurag Verma were present for the discussion.
Ramkripal Singh: For votes it has been said that Sama, Daam, Dand Bheda everything works. This is purely vote bank politics. Behind this neither anyone has any attachment to Babar nor anyone else. This is an attempt to ensure our vote bank. There is no religion anywhere in this.
Ajay Setia: Humayun Kabir himself has said that my political stature is increasing. Therefore, he himself believes that the issue is political and has nothing to do with religion or Babar. This is being played the role of spreading riots. This is an attempt to make Hindus and Muslims fight.
Anurag Verma: Bringing Babar’s name and building that mosque is to show with what sentiment we are going into the elections. Muslims first lost faith in Congress, now they are losing faith in regional parties also. Now they want their own leader. The same is being used in West Bengal. They want there to be tension, the more tension there is the more polarization there will be.
Piyush Pant: Such issues definitely have an impact on voters. Although till some time ago it had no effect. That’s why every party is making such efforts. Humayun Kabir has also been in BJP earlier. BJP has not yet been able to make inroads in Bengal. I think this may be a strategy.
Rakesh Shukla: Recognized mosques have a different parameter. Humayun Kabir is constructing a building. Because this is just an election pit. According to technical and religious belief, this is not a mosque at all. It remains to be seen what will happen after the elections.
