New Delhi. America registered a big achievement by defeating Netherlands. America defeated Netherlands by 93 runs in the T20 World Cup match. This is the biggest victory of an associate team in the history of this tournament. Earlier this record was in the name of Nepal which had defeated Hong Kong by 80 runs in Chittagong in 2014. This is also America’s first win over Netherlands in T20 International. Before this, America had played three ODI and three T20 International matches against Netherlands and had lost all the matches. With this victory, America’s account in the points table also opened. With two points, America has reached third place in India’s group.
America registered its first win by defeating Netherlands by 93 runs in a Group A match with the help of a half-century from Saiteja Mukkamalla (79 runs) and four wickets from left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh (21/4). With the unbeaten innings of 48 runs by Mukkamalla and finally Shubham Ranjane, America made a competitive score of 196 runs for six wickets. Mukkamalla’s 51-ball innings had five fours and four sixes. Then, with former Indian Under-19 star Harmeet taking four wickets in four overs and Shadley Van Schalkwyk taking three wickets for 21 runs in 2.5 overs, America bowled out Netherlands for just 103 runs in 15.5 overs.

This performance of Harmeet was also the best performance for America in the T20 World Cup match. Mohammad Mohsin took two wickets for 19 runs in three overs. Left arm spin Nostush Kenzige also got a wicket. No batsman from Netherlands could make a big partnership. For that, Bas de Leede was the top scorer by scoring 23 runs. Apart from him, captain Scott Edwards contributed 20 runs.
Earlier, Mukkamalla added 55 runs for the second wicket with captain Monank Patel (36) and 54 runs for the fourth wicket with former Mumbai all-rounder Ranjane (24 balls, three fours, two sixes). The specialty of Mukkamalla’s batting, which was trained at VVS Laxman’s Cricket Academy in Hyderabad, was his shots on the ‘off-side’ which included sixes hit over the covers. At the same time, Ranjane scored runs at the end of the innings, foiling the plans of the Netherlands bowlers. Ranjane, who scored a half-century against Pakistan, was in good form. When both were playing, it seemed that the score would cross 200 runs. However, Logan Van Beek and Bas De Leede took advantage of the slow pitch and stopped them before that. De Leede, son of former Netherlands fast bowler Tim de Leede, took three wickets for 37 runs in his four overs.
