Sikandar Raza reactions: Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza is elated after defeating Australia in the T20 World Cup. Raza says that he is proud of his team and he feels like he is playing the role of an elder brother in the team. After this defeat, it has become difficult for Australia to reach Super 8.

Colombo. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza described the 23-run win over Australia as ‘incredible’. He said that this was possible only because of the unity, atmosphere and culture of the team. Zimbabwe caused a big upset by defeating Australia in the Group B match at R Premadasa Stadium. After the match, Raza said, ‘I am very happy and also feeling proud. I feel like I am like an elder brother whose younger brothers are achieving so much together.
Raza scored unbeaten 25 runs in 13 balls and started the bowling, but had to leave the field in the ninth over due to a muscle strain. He said, ‘It felt great to see from outside how the team won. This was possible only because of the team environment, unity and culture. Looking from outside, I felt proud. This is really surprising. Raza said, ‘The way we bowled, hit fours, batted, everything was fantastic. The team needed a win and it got it.

Zimbabwe’s experienced wicketkeeper batsman Brendan Taylor has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to an injury sustained during a group match and Ben Curran has been included in the team in his place. Forty-year-old Taylor limped off the field due to injury in the match played against Oman on February 9. Zimbabwe won this match by eight wickets.
During the toss before the match between Zimbabwe and Australia on Friday, captain Sikandar Raza said, ‘Brendan Taylor is injured and will not be able to play further in the tournament.’ The tournament technical committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 approved top-order batsman Ben Curran, brother of England all-rounder Sam, as Taylor’s replacement.
