New Delhi. India’s opener Abhishek Sharma has been discharged from the hospital but there are still doubts about his playing in the important T20 World Cup group match against Pakistan to be held in Colombo on February 15. Due to stomach infection, Abhishek had to stay in the hospital for two days due to high fever and stomach pain. He was discharged from a hospital in Delhi on Wednesday.
But on Thursday, when the Indian team practiced at the Kotla ground, Abhishek did not train because he was still feeling a little weak. He has also lost some weight and after a serious stomach infection, it takes some time to recover completely and get the strength and stamina to play top level cricket.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav also indicated that it may be difficult for him to play in the match against Pakistan. He said, ‘Abhishek is not completely well right now, it may take one or two matches.’ It is believed that his practice session in Colombo will reveal what condition he is in. If he bats longer than usual in the nets, then it can be considered a sign of his being fit to play.
If we look at the net sessions of the Indian team in the last one year, Abhishek bats many times and bats for about 75 to 90 minutes in a three-hour practice session.
After stormy half-centuries by openers Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya, with the magic of spin by Varun Chakraborty, India registered its second consecutive win by defeating Namibia by 93 runs in a one-sided match of Group A. With the half-centuries of Ishan (61 runs, 24 balls, five sixes, six fours) and Pandya (52 runs, 28 balls, four sixes, four fours), India scored 209 runs for nine wickets, in response to which Namibia’s team was all out for 116 runs in 18.2 overs in front of the sharp bowling of Chakraborty (three wickets for seven runs), (two wickets for 21 runs) and Akshar Patel (two wickets for 20 runs). Shrinked. From Namibia, apart from openers Lauren Steenkamp (29) and Jan Frylink (22), no other batsman could even touch the 20-run mark. The team lost its last eight wickets by adding only 30 runs.
