Valentine’s Day is usually considered a festival of love, flowers and chocolate, but Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, USA has found a way to celebrate it in a completely different way.
A fundraiser named ‘Dollars for Dung’ is going on here, in which people can put the name of their ex-partner or unfaithful person on the animal’s potty (dung or poop) by donating just 5 dollars. This unique idea has become so viral that people are happily participating in it.
zoo’s earnings
After this offer, the zoo is getting a good amount of crowd and donations. The Maryland Zoo announced this campaign in January 2026, which peaks around Valentine’s Day (February 14). It is written on the zoo’s official website and social media – “Got a Stinky Ex? Get the Perfect Revenge!” That means if your ex is stinky, then this is the perfect revenge. For a donation of $5, you choose a pile of animal dung (which is produced daily at the zoo), and name it after your ex.
gives certificate
The zoo emails you a funny PDF certificate stating that such and such animal’s poop is now in your ex’s name. This is not just a joke, but also a good cause. The zoo has more than 1000 animals, including critically endangered species like the Panama golden frog and the African penguin. The money received from donations is used for the care of these animals and for local and global conservation projects. Xu says it may seem silly, but the effect is real. This is helping the animals.
show creativity
This is not the first such event of the zoo. Many zoos in America run such fundraisers on Valentine’s Day. Like “Cry Me a Cockroach” at the San Antonio Zoo, where X is named after a cockroach and fed to the animal. “Do Some Good” at the Fort Worth Zoo, where pounds of poo are named. But the Maryland Zoo’s “Dollars for Dung” seems to be the most fun and cheapest, where revenge can be had for just $5. There is a crowd of people because this is a way to vent emotions with laughter and jokes. If there is anger and pain after a breakup, then this gives symbolic revenge without harming anyone. Zoo officials say this is an opportunity to make people laugh and do good work. Donors can share the certificate, but do not send it directly to X. Although many people send it jokingly!
