
The Supreme Court on Thursday reprimanded Neeraj Pandey, the filmmaker of the film ‘Ghooskhor Pandit’. The court said that one cannot defame a section of the society by using such titles. While hearing a petition seeking a stay on the release of Manoj Bajpayee starrer film ‘Ghooskhaer Pandit’, the Supreme Court expressed strong objection to the name of the film. This film was going to be released on OTT platform Netflix.
The film will be released only after revealing the new name.
According to PTI news, the bench of Justices BV Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan has also issued a notice to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Central Board for Film Certification on a petition regarding the film ‘Ghooskhaer Pandit’. The court said, ‘Why are you defaming a section of the society by using such a title? This is against morality and public order. Unless you tell us the changed name. We will not let you release the film.
The court directed the film makers to file an affidavit that ‘Ghooskhor Pandit’ does not degrade any section of the society. The next hearing of the case will be on February 19.
