
Officials of Mumbai Airport Commissionerate, Customs Zone-III have taken action in several important cases while on duty between (4 January 2026) and Wednesday (11 February 2026). In the action taken by the team, drugs, gold, diamonds and foreign currency worth crores of rupees have been seized. This action was taken on the basis of spot and APIS profiling. Officials seized hydroponic weed (NDPS) in 7 cases. This action of the Customs Department created a stir.
7 travelers from Bangkok caught with hydroponic weed
In these cases, the team has caught 7 passengers coming from Bangkok with hydroponic weed. A total of 13.256 kg of suspected hydroponic weed was recovered from the passengers by the team, whose value in the illegal market was estimated to be around Rs 13.256 crore. All the accused were arrested under NDPS Act 1985.
So much goods recovered in gold smuggling case
In a gold smuggling case, 104 grams of 24 carat gold, worth about Rs 15.24 lakh, was recovered from a passenger. In a diamond smuggling case, 246.75 carats of natural and lab grown diamonds were seized from one passenger, whose value was said to be around Rs 38.28 lakh. Apart from this, in 3 cases of foreign exchange, a total of Rs 69.78 lakh foreign currency was recovered from 3 passengers. The team is interrogating the accused passengers.
Action based on special intelligence
In one case, 3.5 kg of suspected hydroponic weed was seized from 5 passengers coming from Bangkok, whose value in the illegal market is around Rs 3.5 crore. In this case, all the accused were arrested under the NDPS Act. In another case, foreign currency equivalent to Rs 43.25 lakh was recovered from a passenger. At present, after this seizure, the team is arresting all the accused passengers and starting further action. Once again there is a lot of discussion about this action of Customs.
