An alleged criminal wanted by the Haryana Police in a murder case was on Tuesday extradited from the US in an operation conducted by the CBI in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs. A CBI spokesperson said in a statement that Sombir Mota was wanted by Haryana Police for murder and offenses related to the use of firearms.
Officials said that the accused has been extradited from the US to India on February 10, 2026 and the Haryana Police has taken him into custody. Earlier, on the request of Haryana Police, CBI had published a red notice against Sombir Mota through Interpol on February 11, 2025. The agency had coordinated with NCB Washington to trace the accused and extradite him to India.
