Bangladesh entered the India-Pakistan conflict

karachi: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Amin Ul Islam has reached Lahore ahead of the virtual meeting between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and ICC. This meeting is being held to resolve the ongoing deadlock over Pakistan’s proposed boycott of the T20 World Cup match against India. Former Test cricketer Amin met PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Lahore and is expected to take part in virtual discussions aimed at convincing Pakistan to reconsider its decision of not playing against India in the T20 World Cup match on February 15.

Naqvi has not commented much on the government’s instructions to boycott the India match but a reliable source said that the situation has changed after Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) sent an email to the PCB. In this email they have been requested to end the boycott. ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta has also gone to Colombo to meet SLC President Shammi Silva who had sent an email to Naqvi asking him to play the match against India in the World Cup.

PCB can make excuse of force majeure

The ICC has already sought clarification from Pakistan as to how the ‘force majeure’ rule can be used. Through this rule, Pakistan wanted to justify the team’s refusal to play the T20 World Cup match against India, because the PCB had tried to avoid the situation by putting the responsibility on its government.

Now a ray of hope is visible as PCB has approached ICC for talks. This information was given by an ICC director who feels that this big match will finally happen. The ICC is currently in talks with the Board to find a possible solution in an orderly manner, with the view that the interests of the game must outweigh any unilateral action.
