New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have congratulated the Indian team for winning the Under-19 World Cup for a record sixth time. Along with congratulating, he wished for a bright future for the players. India defeated England by 100 runs in the final played in Harare, Zimbabwe. The hero of the Indian victory was 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who played a brilliant inning of 175 runs in 80 balls, helping the team score a huge score of 411 runs for nine wickets.

President Murmu said that the Indian team has brought glory to the country by winning the title while remaining undefeated in the entire tournament. Praising the extraordinary skill of the team, Modi said that this victory will inspire the young players. According to the statement issued on the official ‘X’ of Rashtrapati Bhavan, “Hearty congratulations to the Indian team on winning the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026 for a record sixth time.”

He said, “The team has brought glory to the country with its brilliant performance while remaining undefeated in the entire tournament. I wish a bright future for the talented young players. I have full confidence that Indian cricket will become even stronger.

The team performed brilliantly throughout the tournament and displayed extraordinary skills. He said, “This victory will also inspire many young players. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also praised the young players of India and wrote on Twitter, “Great performance by our youth-power team. Congratulations to the boys on becoming world champions.
