Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said on Thursday that terrorism remains a permanent threat to development. The world community should neither show tolerance nor give any concession towards it. He said this while addressing the meeting of the G20 Foreign Ministers held at the United Nations.

Jaishankar said that both international peace and global development have been affected parallel in recent years. He said clearly, the biggest disruption for development is terrorism. It is necessary that the world should not compromise on it. He said that whatever countries or organizations take steps on any front against terrorism, they serve not only for themselves but for the entire international community. Jaishankar said that when the world is struggling with struggle, economic pressure and terrorism, the multilateral system and the United Nations borders are clearly visible. In such a situation, the requirement of multilateral improvement is more than ever.

Ukraine and Gaza Yodh have a serious impact on Global South

The Foreign Minister insisted that the Ukraine and Gaza war have made a serious impact on the global South (Global South). It has a direct impact on energy, food and fertilizer safety. He said that supply chains and logistics have been disrupted, which has led to not only availability but also cost for many countries. Jaishankar also questioned the double criteria and said that peace makes development possible, but disrupting development cannot open the path of peace.
