Bangladesh Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus made a controversial statement on India-Bangladesh relations on Thursday (25 September 2025). He said that right now there are problems between India and Bangladesh, because they did not like the movement on behalf of the students last year. He insisted on re -activating the South Asian Regional Cooperation Organization (SAARC), in which Bangladesh will act like a bridge for regional trade and maritime access.
Mohammad Yunus said in New York, “Dhaka’s relationship with New Delhi is tense because India did not like the student protests last year, due to which Sheikh Hasina had to withdraw from her post. They (India) are also hosting former PM Sheikh Hasina, which are the cause of many problems in our country.”
‘We are Islamist and Taliban …’ – Mohammad Yunus
Sheikh Hasina escaped to India after a violent student demonstration in Bangladesh last year. Mohammad Yunus alleged that the Indian media released fake reports about this movement, due to which the tension between the two countries has increased further. He said, “It is like a propenanda, which presents us like Islamist and Taliban. Will you call me Taliban. He calls me Taliban Chief, but we do not need to do so.”
New Delhi has given a befitting reply to Bangladesh on the growing anti -India statements in the neighboring country and the threats to occupy the Northeast region of India. India has also expressed concern over the increase in attacks on minorities, especially Hindus in Bangladesh.
Big statement given about Saarc countries
Mohammad Yunus broke India’s head of the SAARC organization being inactive. He said that this group of eight countries has been inactive for the last decade. Pointing to India, he said that SAARC is not able to work because this group is not fit in the politics of a country. Pakistan also speaks of activating SAARC.
Mohammad Yunus poisoned on North East
The head of the interim government of Bangladesh said, “SAARC is a great organization like the European Union. Our neighbor should not adamage it. SAARC is the real meaning that you invest in our country and we will invest in your territory. SAARC works similar.” During this, he again mentioned the states of North East. He said that the seven northeastern states of India do not have access to the sea.
