US President Donald Trump will address the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday. Many leaders from all over the world have gathered in New York this week to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. After his speech, Trump will hold a face-to-face meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and leaders of Ukraine, Argentina and European Union. A White House spokesperson indicated in a briefing that Trump may give an aggressive speech condemning “global institutions”.
US President Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, United Arab Emirates and Jordan will also hold a collective meeting. During this meeting, Trump can discuss many topics, which can include a policy regarding how after the war in Gaza without Hamas’s participation.
Everyone will keep an eye on every statement in the United Nations General Assembly, because Trump has blew the bugle against the UN in the first eight months of his tenure. Support has been reduced to a great extent. Even in his first term, he was only against the United Nations -backed multilateralism.
After the swearing -in this year, he issued an executive order on the first day and separated America from the World Health Organization. He then took a step to end the US participation in the United Nations Human Rights Council and ordered a review of American membership in hundreds of inter-governmental organizations, which aims to determine whether they are in line with the priorities of their ‘America First’ agenda?
Last week, Trump said about the United Nations, “There are high expectations from this, but honestly, it is not going well.” White House Press Secretary Caroline Lewit said in the press briefing that Trump will refer to his positive role in renewing American strength around the world and ending many wars.
Levitt said, the President will also throw light on how global institutions have badly damaged the world system, and the president will introduce the world with their clear and creative thinking. Levit claimed that many countries see the announcement of recognizing Palestine of Palestine as “just talks and not to take adequate action from some of our friends and colleagues”.
