Cities are expanding due to increasing urbanization. Citizens have to travel a long way to reach the workplace. Therefore, along with strengthening the public transport system, it is now needed to provide ‘Last Mile Connectivity’ to the citizens.

The next step of the transport service is ‘Pod Taxi’ and this service should be made available to the citizens for ‘Last Mile Connectivity’, such instructions were given by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in a meeting organized in relation to pod taxi at Sahyadri guest house.

Kurla-Bandra Yatra will be easier by pod taxi

Chief Minister Fadnavis said that this service will prove to be important in the ‘Business District’ located between Kurla to Bandra railway station. Here, due to the future bullet train station and Mumbai High Court, the crowd of citizens in this area is going to increase.

He said that due to this, the pressure on the transport service currently available is likely to face difficulties by citizens. In future, pod taxi can be a better option to provide delay and easily transport service to citizens in this region.

Pod taxi facility will be developed with single card

The Chief Minister said that arrangements are being made to travel through single card in all transport services in Mumbai. Citizens should also get the service of pod taxi with this single card; Action should be taken in this direction. Kurla and Bandra station complex should be developed according to pod taxi.

He said that other places should be provided to the police instead of the police residence located in the Kurla station premises. Also, the buildings of the Bandra-Kurla Complex area should be connected to the station with pod taxi.

New measures to better use station sky walk

Given the commercial importance of this region, this service should be globally, it should be taken care of. Chief Minister Fadnavis also gave such suggestions on this occasion for better use of the sky walk outside the station.

The meeting was attended by Brihanmumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, Metropolitan Commissioner of Mumbai Metropolitan Area Development Authority, Sanjay Mukherjee, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) Sanjay Sethi, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) Asim Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home) Anup Kumar Singh etc. Metropolitan Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee and Police Commissioner Bharti performed.
