The Gujarat Police has made strict arrangements throughout the state during the Navratri festival. Special attention is being paid to law and order, safety of women, traffic management and police behavior. Additional police forces and ‘Xi Team’ have been deployed in sensitive areas across the state so that women in Garba grounds and crowded areas cannot have any kind of tampering or unpleasant incidents.

Security of women will wear traditional dress

The Gujarat Police has activated the ‘Xi Team’, giving priority to the safety of women during Navratri. In these teams, women policemen are being deployed in traditional garments at garba grounds and other public places. Its purpose is to stop tampering, harassment or any untoward during congestion.

According to information received from Gujarat Police Headquarters, 16 companies of Additional State Reserve Police and two Rapid Action Force (RAF) teams have also been deployed.

Focus on women safety, traffic jam- DGP

DGP Vikas Sahai held a review meeting with top police officers of the state on 22 September through video conferencing. Special discussion was held in the meeting on maintaining law and order, safety of women, traffic management and police response and behavior.

Officials were instructed that peace should be maintained throughout the state during Navratri and patrolling should be increased in sensitive areas. Additional policemen have been deployed to avoid traffic jams and continuous monitoring of traffic will be done during the festival.

Strict instructions on police response and behavior

The Gujarat Police has given priority not only security but also its response and behavior. The police control room has been equipped for quick action, while senior officials have been instructed to monitor the situation while present in the control room. Strict instructions have also been given on the behavior of policemen with citizens so that people feel safe and respected.
