Pakistan put pressure in powerplay
Sahibzada Farhan hit Hardik Pandya’s ball on the very first ball of the innings, but he survived. Soon after, Abhishek Sharma gave up his easy catch. Farhan could not even open an account at that time. Kuldeep Yadav also dripped his catch on 16 runs. The result of these mistakes was that Pakistan scored 55 runs in the powerplay, which is their biggest powerplay score against India so far.
Farhan-Aayub’s partnership became trouble
Fakhar Zaman (15) was dismissed early, but Farhan and Sam Ayub added 72 runs for the second wicket. The two together targeted the Indian bowlers and reached Pakistan’s score 91/1 in 10 overs. Here India’s poor fielding gave Pakistan a strong platform.
Dubey tight
Indian bowlers made a comeback after the drinks break. Actually, Gautam Gambhir came on the field during the break and encouraged the Indian players. Its effect was seen. Shivam Dubey gave great success by dismissing Ayub (21) and Farhan (58). Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav also took one wicket each. Pakistan’s middle order did not get a chance to play openly and the rung slowed down.
Nawaz-Agga contribute in the last over
In the final overs of Pakistan’s innings, Indian bowlers kept pressure and stopped the opposition team from scoring big. By the 18th over, Pakistan’s score was 146/4, but Nawaz and captain Salman Aga together carried forward the innings. The 19th over caused a thrilling turn when Mohammad Nawaz (21) was run out. Salman tried to take a run, but Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant throw ended Nawaz’s innings. In the last over, Pakistani batsmen could not score runs openly and India stopped him from tight bowling. The result was that Pakistan’s team could reach 171 runs after losing five wickets in 20 overs.
