Two persons died in cloudburst, floods and landslides incidents in four places in Nandanagar area of ​​Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, five were taken alive from the debris while six others are still missing.

According to the latest report of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), about 45 houses and 15 cowsheds were demolished in these incidents. According to this, four persons buried in the debris were evacuated alive in Dhurma village in Dhurma village.

Officials said that 12 persons have also been injured in these incidents, including those who were removed from the debris. Officials said that the seriously injured have been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh.

The SEOC report states that one of the dead bodies has been recovered in each of the villages of the Kuntari, and the sarpani villages, while the search for six other missing people in the piles of debris is still going on.

It has been told that the dead body recovered from the debris of the damaged house in Kuntari Laga Fali village has been identified as Narendra Singh (38) and the body found in Sarpani village as Jagdamba Prasad (70). According to this, four persons including two women and a child, Kuntari, Fali village and another person were evacuated alive from the debris in Dhurma village.

Many people are feared to be buried in debris

According to the SEOC, there is a possibility of being buried inside the debris stored in six missing people and the sarpani of one each and one of the kuntari. All four places affected in Nandanagar region – Kuntari Laga Fali, Kuntari Laga Sarpani, Sera and Dhurma are about 260 km from Dehradun while Chamoli district headquarters is about 50 km from Gopeshwar.

Since last month, the Kuntari area of ​​Nandanagar has been struggling with the trouble of getting deep cracks and deep cracks in the houses, where 64 people living there were sent to relief camps due to the danger of about 16 houses.

CM Dhami knows about the situation

After receiving information about the incident in the morning, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached SEOC in Dehradun and inquired about the situation arising out of excess rainfall in Nandanagar. Later he told reporters that four different places-Kuntari Laga Pali, Kuntari Laga Sarpani, Sera and Summa have caused heavy damage due to cloudburst and huge debris. He told that more than 200 people have been affected in these incidents.

The SEOC said that about 150-200 people of Kuntari Laga Fali village have been evacuated to safe places while National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Prevention Force (SDRF), India Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), police and behalf are being carried out by the police and adventurers under the supervision of District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police.

Dhami said that one of the serious injured sent to Rishikesh AIIMS includes a child who has suffered a head injury. While talking to Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari through a video conference, the Chief Minister took stock of the situation in Nandanagar and instructed them to speed up relief and rescue work.

He instructed the officers to ensure immediate restoration of roads, drinking water supply, electricity and network connectivity in the affected areas and asked them to ensure adequate arrangements for shelters, food, clean drinking water and other necessary facilities for the affected people. Doctors and medicines should also be made available to ensure quick medical help in the affected areas.

Medical team sent to affected areas

On the occasion, Nandan Singh, a resident of Kuntari village and Deputy Chairman of the District Branch of ‘Indian Red Cross’, who was engaged in relief and rescue operations with his team, said that it took time for rescue teams to reach the affected areas due to the road being blocked.

During the strong rains, the Kuntari, the Fali village, came to three places from the hill above the village in large quantities of soil, debris, water and stones, which destroyed everything. Nandan Singh said, “Many people escaped somehow, but some people were buried in the rubble.” The Mokh River was flooded due to heavy rains in the Mokh Valley, located on the other side of the same hill, causing many buildings from Dhurma to Sera.

In this monsoon season, Uttarakhand has suffered many natural disasters continuously. Two days ago, due to cloudburst and heavy rains, there was a huge devastation in Dehradun due to floods and landslides incidents, in which 21 people died and 17 others went missing.

Administration engaged in handling the situation

Referring to the disaster in Dehradun, the Chief Minister said that the work of restoring facilities like blocked routes and disrupted power-water supply is going on. He said that so far many facilities have been repaired. Due to disaster, people living in camps are being taken care of in every way.

In response to a question, the Chief Minister said that the journey of the four dhams is going on smoothly, but appeals to the passengers to plan their journey keeping in mind the weather forecast so that there is no problem. The safety of every passenger is our top priority. Our effort is that the journey of all the passengers should be safe and accessible. In this monsoon season, Uttarakhand has suffered many natural disasters continuously.

The Chief Minister also conducted a terrestrial inspection of the Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple affected by excess rainfall in Dehradun where debris was also reached with waterlogging on Tuesday. On this occasion, he wished for happiness, peace and prosperity in the state by performing Jalabhishek in the temple.
