Coolpad Mega 2.5D review

Between the category of less than Rs 15,000 where the fight is intensifying. At the same time, the brands are now offering smartphones in the category less than Rs 10,000. Xiaomi recently Redmi 3S And Redmi 3S Prime ,Review) By launching this fight has intensified. According to the price, both these smartphones are very good.

A second Chinese company coolpad is also known for the race in the budget segment. Now the company has tried to challenge Xiaomi’s new offer by launching Mega 2.5D. At present, this phone is available only through flash cell. 2.5D is a selfie focus smartphone with special attention to the design. This is a big rival for Redmi 3S but we think that Mega 2.5d There is a large alternative to those who want a big display phone in this segment.

But is this a good phone? Can this new coolpad smartphone attract customers towards itself? Today we will do to review this phone.

Design and texture
Mega 2.5D is definitely a smartphone with a great look. And it looks attractive in gold color variants. We can see that Coolpad has given a lot of attention to the texture of this phone. 2.5D as it is revealed by the name, it has a curved display above the display. Black bezels are provided on the edges of the display, causing the illusion of being an Ez-to-Ease Panel when the screen is off.

The phone has a 5.5 inch display that comes with HD resolution. This screen is very common in this segment. However, pixel density is low according to the size of the display, which makes the blurred around the text. This is not much better but fine. At the top is a notification LED and onscreen navigation button.

Coolpad Mega 2.5D cannot be used easily because it is impossible to use it with one hand. Good thing, it is not too heavy but only 143 grams. The phone is also quite thin. This phone has a metal frame but its rear is made of plastic. In addition to the screen, the entire phone does not have fingers, so that it is easy to clean. The buttons respond properly.

The phone has a hybrid SIM tray on the right side, while the headphones and micro-USB ports are given up and downwards respectively. The back of the phone is a slight curve, which makes it feel a bit convenient in the hand. On the rear is a camera module at the top and a speaker at the bottom. The problem with a round rear is that it completely shuts down the speaker when it is placed on a flat surface.

On purchasing the phone, a 7.5 watt power adapter, data cable and a headset will be available in the box. Fowe is beautiful to watch and is made well. The phone does not have any fingerprint sensor but it does not have it at this price.

Specification and software
Coolpad Mega 2.5D has a MediaTek MT6735P quad-core processor which cannot be called the best election in this price these days. Any other budget of Qualcomm’s Chipset (Snapdragon 410) could also be given in this phone. Coolpad has given 3 GB RAM in the phone, which no one has given in this price so far. However, due to excess RAM, the performance of the phone does not improve and its effect is seen on the benchmark result. In the benchmarking test, we got very few figures from the phone.

Talking about the rest of the phone’s specification, it has features like 16 GB storage (32 GB expandable), Wi-Fi B/G/N, Bluetooth 4.0, UAC OTG, FM Radio and GPS. The phone supports 4G and Indian bands on both SIM slots.

This phone running on Android Marshmallow has an unknown ColuI 8.0 skin of the coolpad. According to us, it needs a lot of improvement and change. Swipe from the bottom to the bottom provides a control center, which provides togle switches for brightness control, app shortcuts and customization.

The C button given in the phone is like a quick ball of Xiaomi that gives you a floating circular overlay. It lives on the edges of the display. Pressing it opens a crew of a shortcut.

It has some UI design option and we feel that if they had given them a little differently, it would have been better. For example, it is impossible to read any email notification in the notification shed without opening the app. There is no sharp way to control the music player from the home screen. The theme app given in the phone is also very useless and the option is very limited and you may not like the theme you will get.

Apart from this, the ‘transfer’ app for data transfer from one phone to another in the phone has been given a cool manager to block the call, manage data traffic and lock the app.

Performance
The display paporphority in the phone is very good and it makes the color reproduction good. The phone is readable in sunlight but the ambient light sensor is slightly slow and it reacts slowly. Many times touch response on the display is not good and the phone does not react. The call quality is good but the speaker’s volume is quite low during the call. The phone goes on good most of the time, although the rear and display camera gets heated during use. We tested it with two different units of Coolpad Mega 2.5D and got the same response from both.

CooluI 8 looks quite good at first glance but after setting a few apps and games in it, its performance is not very good. Whether you are unlocked the device or switch to another app, for this you get a sporadeic shutter for this. The phone has a heavy skin with a weak processor, so even 3 GB RAM cannot do anything in the phone.

Apart from this, Zuimei notifications and headphone jack alerts available for the weather in the phone also bothers which it cannot be removed. And the notification shed is filled with it. Apart from this, another shortage that we saw is to keep flashing the GPS icon continuously. Google’s Now on Tap also does not work although you can enable it. Coolpad says that updates will be available in the coming time.

Full HD video can be played in mega 2.5D but the speaker gives a very bad audio performance. Audio quality is good from the headset coming with the phone. The phone has a custom music player from which coolmousic is named and it is functional. There are already many equalizer music to twinkle.

The phone has a megapixel front and rear camera and both get average results from both. The camera app is simple and easy to use. You can swipe up or down for shooting modes like video, butu, night and pro. The focus is speed theme and due to the problem in the shutter, the camera has to be kept stable to take a good picture. Macro photos come with good detailing.

Landscape shot provides low detailing and the object looks slightly ugly when zoomed into it. The camera performance is slightly bad in low light and we had the same expectation from this price phone. Video recording can be done with a maximum of 720 pixels but it is also useful in good light. Talk about having a selfie phone, the camera app lacks features like gesture or voice capture. The phone provides a butu mode with several levels of facial enhancement but the camera app could be improved overall. The front camera brings good pictures in the indoor.

In our video loop test, the battery given in the phone supported for 8 hours and 27 minutes, which is not bad. However, when two SIMs remain active during normal use, we could run it only 17-18 hours before the battery is down. The battery runs so much with single sim. Coolpad has given a standby power saving option from which the stock launcher turns into a basic launcher and you can only make messages and calling. However, we did not understand why Coolpad did not give a big battery in this phone? Given the size of the phone, we expected to get a 4000 mAh battery in the phone.

Our decision
Coolpad Mega 2.5D smartphone at first glance looks a good phone, but after using it for a week, we felt a little disappointed. This phone could have been a good option of Redmi 3S and is a big screen phone. But the choice of the bad component of the phone bears it from the Redmi 3S.

We are especially talking about its chipset and battery. Both of them spoiled the phone experience. The heavy skin given on Marshmallow is also not good and it makes a lot of trouble due to weak processor. The camera and battery are two places where 2.5D stucks.

The design of the phone is probably the only thing that makes the phone good but no phone can be purchased only on the basis of beauty. We hope that we will see an upgraded variant of mega 2.5D which will have a strong and new CPU, big batter and more optimization interface to create a good phone at this price.

Right now, Xiaomi Redmi 3S is the best phone in this category and at number two Lenovo Vibe’s 5 Plus ,Review) Comes.
