Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the PMMSY i.e. Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY-PRADHAN MANTRI MATSYA SAPADA YOJANA) scheme. 55 lakh people are expected to get employment from this program. Also, fish Cryobanks will now be installed in the country. Through these, farmers will be able to increase fisheries production through fish sperm of essential species. The Prime Minister’s fisheries wealth scheme was announced in the budget. After this, while announcing the Corona Relief Package, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that a fund of Rs 11,000 crore would be provided for activities in Marine, Inland Fisherie and Acquelure.

What is PMMSY i.e. Matsya Estate Scheme Fisheries is an emerging region of the country. About 1.5 million people have got employment in this sector. The central government has set a target to increase it to about 55 lakhs in 2024-25. The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMMSY-PRADHAN MANTRI MANTRI MATSYA SAMPADA YOJANA) was launched on Thursday to increase fish production and create employment. According to Fisheries Secretary Dr. Rajiv Ranjan, a target has been set to increase fish production from 137.58 lakh tonnes to 2024-25 in 2018-19.

According to Ranjan, a big target has been set to increase the average water agricultural productivity from 3.3 tonnes per hectare to 5.0 tonnes per hectare in 2024-25. Fisheries exports are planned to increase Rs 1 lakh crore by 2024-25 and Rs 2 lakh crore by 2028. India has now become the world’s second largest hydrian producer and fourth largest sea food exporter.

Fish farming in data-From 2014-15 to 2018-19, the fisheries sector has increased by 10.87%. Fish production in India has increased by 7.53%, fisheries exports have increased by 9.71%. The global share of fish production in India has increased to 7.73%.

Secretary Dr. Ranjan informed that some policy reforms have been made recently in the fisheries sector. For example, to construct fisheries Infrastructure Development Fund for fishermen and provide KCC facility. You can get a loan of up to Rs 2 lakh through KCC facility for fisheries. The Secretary outlined investment opportunities in fisheries. Such as saltwater hydris, seaweed cultivation and decorative fisheries etc.

Who can take advantage of this scheme

People of the fishermen community: Only people belonging to the fisherman community will benefit from this scheme.

Aquarius agriculture: A person who belongs to aquatic areas and does aquatic agriculture or is interested for it, will be considered eligible for this.

Fishermen suffering from natural disaster: Fishermen who have suffered from a natural disaster badly and suffer from it, they will also get the benefit.

Cultivation of aquatic organisms: Such individuals or fishermen who know how to do fisheries work, but along with this, they can also be provided benefits by including other aquatic organisms.

Now through this farmer credit card, farmers can fulfill the need for fish, shrimp fishes and the need for money coming at the time of business. Farmers credit card holders can take loans up to Rs 3 lakh at 4 percent interest rate.

On paying the loan on time, farmers are given separate exemption in interest. Farmers can apply for credit card by writing an application in the bank. Photo, identity card, residence certificate and photo copy of measles-khatauni of the land have to be installed with applications.
