Gulati was born on 27 March 1923 in Sialkot (Pakistan). After partition of the country in 1947, he came to India. Then he had just Rs 1,500.
Study was up to 5th grade
Dharampal Gulati has studied till class fifth. He did not go to school for further studies. Even though he has not taken much education, but big stalwarts in business consider him iron.
Tanga used to run in Delhi
Come to Delhi in front of Dharampal Gulati and earning money was the biggest challenge. In those days, only 1500 rupees were left in Dharampal’s pocket. Out of these 1500 rupees from the father, Dharampal bought a horse and a tanga of Rs 650 and started running the Tanga at the railway station. A few days later, he gave Tanga Bhai to Tanga Bhai and started selling spices by putting a small kiosk on Ajmal Khan Road in Karolbagh.
Was the highest salary CEO
According to the Euromonitor, Dharampal Gulati was the highest -grossing CEO in the FMCG sector. Sources said that in 2018, he used to get 25 crore in-hand salary in 2018.
Was also in charity ahead
Gulati used to donate about 90 percent of his salary. He was also running 20 schools and 1 hospital. Apart from this, he used to help the needy people from time to time.
