New Delhi. Water is life. All water without water. We have come to hear these things since childhood, but it had a profound impact on 14 -year -old Rishabh. To deal with the water crisis, Rishabh adopted such a trick, which saved 70 lakh liters of water in just one year. Not only this, the water bill in homes also reduced by 30 percent.
Rishabh Prabhbh, a 14 -year -old student studying in class 9th of National Academy for Learning, Bengaluru, has started the water mission. Under this, Rishabh installed two hotels, his school and his housing society taps’. The aitor is small mechanical devices, which are fitted in the tap. They mix the air with water and ensure that the flow of water coming from the tap remains stable, then whatever the pressure. If the taps supply 15 liters of water per minute, if the aitor is installed, it reduces the supply of water to six liters per minute. These devices can save 1,274 liters of water in a month.

Idea came like this
In 2019, Rishabh participated in a social initiative of ‘1 million for 1 billion’ (1M1B), a United Nations recognized organization. Here he studied various environment related issues. The Better India has published an article on this subject. Rishabh told the website that he read on many issues like air pollution, but water scarcity was a problem that he himself has seen in Bengaluru. Many ponds are drying up here and many houses also have water problems. After this, to understand this problem at the grassroots level, Rishabh spoke to many organizations, activists and watersheds of Bengaluru. He understood that along with the growing population, the demand for water is also increasing, but its supply is much less than the demand. Therefore, there is only one solution to this problem that water consumption is reduced.

Saving 3 to 4 liters of water per minute from the sink of the kitchen through the aitor
When Rishabh did research, it was found that at the domestic level, the best way to reduce water consumption is to fit the aitor in the water tap. Typically, 6 liters of water is released from our kitchen sink and tap in the bathroom and can reduce it by 3 or 4 liters by the aitor. For this testing, Rishabh put an aitor in his grandmother’s house in Bengaluru. He could not install an aitor in his house because in his building, the water bill of 17 houses comes. Which is divided into everyone. In such a situation, they are unable to properly guess the savings in water and the bill cuts.

Water bill reduced by 30 percent in just one month in grandmother’s house
According to Rishabh, only one month after fitting of an aitor, we saw a cut of up to 30% in the water bill of grandmother’s house. Earlier his bill used to come to about 340 rupees but it has come down to 250 rupees. After this, he contacted the Residents Association of his Housing Society and gave this solution. Then two arators were fitted in each apartment. Each house paid for the aitor, which was worth around Rs 300 per unit. Rishabh says that this reduced water consumption in the society within a year and saved 20 lakh liters of water. After this, Rishabh contacted two Marriott Hotels in Cochin, Kerala. Here too, both hotels saved about 50 lakh liters of water in a year.

Target to save one crore liters of water this year
On this success, Rishabh contacted his school principal Indira Jaikrishnan. Rishabh’s idea has carried forward the school initiative further. In the year 2021, Rishabh is expecting his initiative to reach more schools, hotels, cinemas across the city and malls. Their purpose is to help save one crore liters of water in the city.
