
Rithala To Kundli Metro Corridor: The Central Government and the ‘AAP’ government of Delhi together are going to gift a new metro line and RRTS to Delhi-NCR. On Sunday (05 January), the foundation stone of Rithala-Kundli Corridor of Delhi Metro Phase-4 and inauguration of Krishna Park Extension from Janakpuri West will be held. Whereas the RRTS line will be inaugurated between New Ashok Nagar and Sahibabad. At the same time, the Cabinet has approved the Delhi-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat corridors.
Delhi CM Atishi said, “In the last ten years under the AAP government, 200 km of metro lines were built and more than 250 km of metro lines are under construction.” Since 2015, we have invested Rs 7,278 crore for metro expansion, while we have given Rs 1,260 crore for RRTS.

CM Atishi said, “Sunday is an important day in the development of Delhi’s infrastructure because two important infrastructure projects on which the Delhi government and the central government are working together are going to be inaugurated.
Metro extension from Janakpuri West to Krishnapuri Park
On Sunday, the foundation stone of Rithala to Kundli corridor of Delhi Metro, which comes in Phase 4, will be laid. The extension of the Magenta Line of Metro from Janakpuri West to Krishnapuri Park will be inaugurated. That metro line will start functioning from Sunday. CM Atishi said that Delhi Metro is a joint venture of Delhi Government and Central Government. There is 50-50 percent participation of the Central Government and Delhi Government in this.
Metro work gained momentum under AAP government- Atishi
The CM further said, “Ever since the Aam Aadmi Party government was formed in Delhi in 2014-15, the metro work has gained a lot of momentum. In 2014-15, the total metro lines in Delhi were 193 kilometers. The metro line doubled in just ten years and increased from 193 kilometers to 393 kilometers in 2024-25. That means, 200 kilometers of metro line was expanded in these ten years.
He said that in 2014-15, about 24 lakh passengers used to travel by Delhi Metro every day, now more than 60 lakh passengers travel by Delhi Metro every day. From 2015 to 2025, Delhi government has invested Rs 7,278 crore in Delhi Metro.
The first part of RRTS project will be inaugurated
CM Atishi said that apart from this, another important project RRTS (regional rapid transit system) is also inaugurated on Sunday. He said, “At present three corridors are being given priority in RRTS. This includes Delhi-Meerut Corridor, Delhi-Alwar Corridor and Delhi-Panipat Corridor. MoU for Delhi Meerut Corridor has been signed. Our government has given funding of Rs 1,260 crore for this.
At the same time, Delhi-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat corridors have been approved by the Cabinet of Delhi Government. CM Atishi Said, “RRTS which is a joint venture of the Central Government and the state governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and UP. The first part of RRTS will be inaugurated on Sunday.
He said, “In this, the first line of this RRTS line will be started from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar. I am happy that the Central Government and the Delhi Government are jointly funding both the Delhi Metro and RRTS projects. Its infrastructure will give impetus to the economic development of Delhi. I am happy that on Sunday both the Center and the Delhi government are jointly inaugurating the new line of Delhi Metro and the new line of RRTS.
