A 40-year-old Gurnee woman is facing felony charges after attempting to rob a gas station near Lake Villa early Wednesday.
Christina A. Lintner is charged with attempted aggravated robbery after authorities said she entered a gas station on the 36800 block of North Route 83 near Lake Villa just before 12:30 a.m. New Year’s Day, implied she had a firearm and demanded the clerk hand over money.
The clerk told Lake County sheriff’s investigators the woman tried to break into the cash register after her demands were refused.
The woman fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV with out-of-state license plates, the clerk told investigators.
Using license plate reader technology, dispatchers issued an alert for the vehicle, which was soon located by Gurnee police. Lintner was the driver of the vehicle and identified as the suspect in the attempted robbery, authorities said.
She was transported to jail and charged with attempted aggravated robbery. She is awaiting a detention hearing.
