The people of the capital welcomed the New Year 2025 with full enthusiasm and religious sentiments. Followers of all religions visited their religious places like temples, mosques, gurudwaras and churches to pray for a bright future and happiness and prosperity. A huge crowd of devotees was seen at religious places from morning till late night. Crowds of people were also seen at India Gate, Red Fort, Purana Qila, Jantar Mantar and Zoo.

People started coming to the temples from early morning on the first day of the new year. Thousands of devotees gathered at Jhandewala temple to have darshan of Mata. There was a huge crowd of devotees in Kalkaji and Chhatarpur temples also. Devotees present themselves before the Lord at the Hanuman temples of Connaught Place and Yamuna Bazaar. There were long queues throughout the day at Gauri Shankar Temple at Chandni Chowk and Shri Ram Hanuman Vatika Temple at Asaf Ali Road.

People of the Sikh community reached Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Shishganj and Nanak Pyau to pay obeisance. Special Kirtan and Ardaas were organized in these Gurudwaras, in which devotees participated enthusiastically. On the first day of the new year, people of the Christian community offered special prayers at the Sacred Heart Church located at Gol Dakkhana. People lit candles and prayed for happiness and peace for themselves and their families.

People of the Muslim community started the New Year by offering namaz in mosques. A large number of people reached Jama Masjid and Fatehpuri Masjid during morning and afternoon prayers. Here people prayed to Allah for the well-being of their families and society.
