Team India Announced for t20 series against South Africa: India has announced the team for the 5-match T20 series against South Africa to be played from 9 December. On one hand, Hardik Pandya has returned to the Indian team, while on the other hand, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has not got a place. These are the 5 big things about Team India’s selection.
BCCI has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match series with South Africa starting from December 9. There have been some big changes in the Suryakumar Yadav-led team, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya returning to the international arena after recovering from an injury suffered during India’s victorious campaign in the Asia Cup earlier this year.
The team also includes vice-captain Shubhman Gill, who will be available subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI Center of Excellence. Gill is undergoing rehab in Bengaluru after suffering a neck injury during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata last month. It will depend on Gill’s fitness whether he will be included in the playing eleven or not. But he has got a place in the team. Gill was injured during the first Test match played against South Africa in Kolkata. He could not play in the second Test played in Guwahati and the current ODI series due to a neck injury.
Rinku Singh, who is being seen as the new finisher in Team India, has not got a place in the Indian team for the T20 series. Rinku is completely fit at the moment and had recently scored a century for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. His not being selected in the team is hurting everyone. People are worried as to on what basis Rinku has been dropped from the team.

Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has also been kept out of the 5-match T20 series against South Africa. Jaiswal is currently playing the ODI series against South Africa. It is beyond comprehension that this left-handed opener is not getting a place in the T20 team. 23-year-old Jaiswal played his last T20 International match against Sri Lanka in the year 2024.
Fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has also not got a place in the T20 series against South Africa. Siraj played his last ODI match on 30 July 2024 against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. Since then he is not getting a place in the T20 team.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya is returning to the T20 team after injury. Pandya got injured during the Asia Cup. Pandya, who did not play in the Asia Cup 2025 final and the five-match series in Australia, also returned to the Indian team after proving his fitness during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Punjab in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
The five-match T20 series between India and South Africa will start in Cuttack from December 9. For this, a meeting of the selection committee was held on Wednesday to select the team.
