Now in Raipur also he continued the same form and scored another century. This was the 11th time when Virat Kohli achieved the feat of scoring a century in two consecutive ODIs.
Which world record did Sachin Tendulkar break?
Actually, 46 centuries have been recorded in Kohli’s name while batting at number 3. With this, he has now become the batsman who has scored the most centuries while batting at the same position in any one format. He broke the world record of Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 45 centuries in ODI as an opener.
With his second consecutive century in ODI, this is the 11th time that Virat has scored a century in two or more consecutive ODI innings. South African legend AB de Villiers has done this six times and is his biggest rival.
Kohli also broke the record
This was Virat Kohli’s 10th century against South Africa. Now he has scored 10 centuries in ODI against four different countries (South Africa, Australia, West Indies and Sri Lanka). With this, he has become the batsman to score 10 or more centuries against most teams in ODI, leaving behind Sachin Tendulkar (Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka), Ricky Ponting (England, India, South Africa) and Kumar Sangakkara (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh).
