In the last 24 hours, a decrease of 1 degree has been recorded in the minimum temperature of the state. It has fallen 1.6 degrees below the normal temperature. The situation is also hazy. Even at this time, yellow alert of cold wave continues in the state.
The lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at 3 degrees in Faridkot, which is the coldest place in the state. A temperature of 6.6 degrees has been recorded in Chandigarh. The air of Jalandhar and Chandigarh remained polluted. From December 5, 2025, a new but mild Western Disturbance will again affect the weather in the Western Himalayas.
Cold wave alert in 8 districts
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will be dry today. At present, a Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan, due to which changes are being seen in the weather. Due to this, the rotation of wind (cyclone like situation) near Haryana has now reached towards southern Himachal Pradesh.
However, today the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of cold wave at some places in the districts adjoining Rajasthan, Firozpur, Faridkot, Muktsar, Fazilka, Bathinda, Moga, Jalandhar and Mansa.
The air of all the districts is polluted
At six in the morning the air of all the cities of Punjab except Bathinda and Rupnagar was polluted. The air quality index (AQI) of all cities was recorded more than 100. The AQI of Bathinda and Rupnagar was 76 and 63 respectively. Jalandhar’s AQI was recorded at 171, Khanna 122, Ludhiana 124, Mandi Gobindgarh 156, and Patiala 143. Similarly, AQI 181 was recorded in Chandigarh Sector-22, AQI 153 in Sector-53 adjacent to Mohali. However, AQI of Sector-25 could not be recorded.
Weather condition in next 7 days
The weather is likely to remain dry for the next 7 days, which means there will be no rain. Light to moderate fog may occur in some areas of the state. There will not be much change in the minimum temperature (night temperature) for the next 3 days. There is also a possibility of cold wave at some places in the state.
