The host team made an early dent in the West Indies top order before lunch on the second day on Wednesday. New Zealand resumed its innings with the score of 231 runs for 9 wickets but the team could play only three balls and was all out without adding any runs. Former captain Kane Williamson was the only batsman from the team to score a fifty.
The start of West Indies’ innings against New Zealand was also not good and they lost 5 wickets for 106 runs. Roston Chase won the toss and decided to bowl first against the Kiwi team. The bowlers proved this right and eliminated half the team for just 120 runs. Kane Williamson, who was returning after one year, took charge of the team after the first wicket fell for 1 run and scored a fifty. After his dismissal, the innings faltered which was prevented from falling apart by the lower order batsmen. Williamson was out after scoring 52 runs on 102 balls while Michael Bracewell played an inning of 47 runs on 73 balls.
