New Delhi. The South African team has suffered a big setback. Left-arm fast bowler Nandre Berger got injured during the second ODI match being played against India in Raipur on Wednesday. While bowling, he suffered a strain in his right hamstring, after which he appeared to be in a lot of pain. After this injury, there is suspense over his playing in the third ODI to be held in Visakhapatnam. He may be out of this match.

How did burgers get hurt?
In fact, after bowling the first ball of his 7th over, Burger faced trouble twice during the run-up, after which he was again seen holding his right knee. The team physio did come to the field and treated him, but he was feeling uncomfortable, after which he limped out of the field. Captain Aiden Markram bowled the remaining 5 balls of that over.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, Berger has been assessed and is still feeling discomfort in his right hamstring. South African medical staff will continue to monitor him. This injury will also affect the team selection for the third ODI to be held on Saturday. The visiting team is already troubled by injuries to many players. After Kagiso Rabada, Burger is the second South African player to struggle with fitness problems on this tour. Rabada could not play both the test matches due to rib injury. The team is already playing without Rabada and Gerald Coetzee.

Berger has a long history of injuries, including a stress fracture in his lower back, which kept him out of cricket from October 2024 to September this year. Berger has been re-signed by Joburg Super Kings for this year’s SA20 League. This tournament starts on Boxing Day (26 December), but this injury has increased the team’s concern over his availability.
