Nationalist Congress Party (SP) MP Supriya Sule, while referring to the air pollution situation in the national capital, said in the Lok Sabha that traveling in Delhi is like smoking 50 cigarettes a day. He made this comment during the discussion on the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in the House. Sule also said that the government should take the cooperation of MPs to deal with the air pollution situation.

“Travelling in Delhi is like smoking 50 cigarettes a day,” he said. Sule said that there is a need to pay attention to this. He said, “Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav is requested to talk to the MPs and give targets as to what can be done.”

Participating in the discussion on the bill, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Anil Desai said that lakhs of farmers and workers are associated with the tobacco production sector and their livelihood is at stake. He said that efforts should be made at every level to reduce the consumption of tobacco and pan-masala.
