Such a heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, which has not only shaken human sensibilities but has also raised big questions on the safety of daughters in rural areas. Here, a 15-year-old girl student embraced death after being fed up with the continuous mental and physical harassment by a village youth and his family members. After the death of the student, there is an atmosphere of tension and mourning in the entire area, while the family members are crying and in bad condition.
According to the written complaint given by the family members to the Superintendent of Police, this series of torture had started some time ago. It is alleged that a youth from the same village forcibly committed a criminal act with the student and then started breaking her mentally by threatening to defame her in the society.
The victim continued to endure the atrocities due to fear of public shame.
Due to the fear and public shame of the incident, the student was so traumatized that she even stopped going to school. She used to remain silent in her room for hours, but the family had no idea how broken she was from within. In the complaint, the mother has made heart-wrenching allegations.
The family members of the accused insulted the relatives
She told that when she came to know about the actions of the accused, she reached the house of the accused youth in the hope of justice. But instead of getting support there, he and his daughter were insulted by calling them characterless. The family of the accused not only threatened to defame the student but also threatened the victim’s family to leave the village or face dire consequences.
‘The accused threatened the student after rape’
The most tragic turn in the matter came on 19 January 2026. According to the mother, when she was out of the house for some work, the accused again raped the student and threatened her. When the mother returned home in the evening, the student started crying bitterly and narrated her ordeal. The family members tried to protest again, but their voices were suppressed due to bullying.
Unable to bear this insult and the constant mental pressure, the minor took suicidal steps on January 20. After the incident, the police administration seems fully prepared. The family members handed over the mobile number of the accused youth to the police and claimed that the student was harassed by continuous calls and messages from this number.
Outrage among villagers regarding the incident
There is tremendous anger among the people of the village after the incident. Villagers say that the accused youth had harassed many girls before, but no one came forward due to fear. Now the villagers are united and demanding justice for the victim’s family and early arrest of the accused. At present, additional police force has been deployed in the village to maintain peace.
No accused will be spared
Regarding this matter, DSP Kuldeep Singh said that we have taken the matter into cognizance on the complaint of the family members. Teams have been formed to collect evidence. No culprit, be it the youth or his family, will be spared. The process of justice will be completed in a transparent manner. A case is being registered against the accused and action is being taken.
